I’m deeply grateful for the support that various individuals and organizations contribute to me personally to assist with my ministry. It’s certainly not anticipated or expected – as deacons, we do what we do for free and without expectation of any role or compensation, as a free gift back to God and His Church from all that they bestow upon us.

That said, many parishioners, organizations (like the Knights of Columbus and our parish Men’s Club and Ladies Sodality), and individuals often make gifts to me, and when they do, I keep and account for them completely separate from our personal finances. Additionally, as do all of the parishes and ministries of our diocese, I intentionally steward 10% of it as a tithe to my diocese and bishop.

With what remains after tithing the first 10% to my diocese and bishop, I purchase things needed for ministry (religious articles, vestments, books, and even supplies for various ministerial efforts); I fund the hosting of this website, my podcasts, and other online ministry-related endeavors; I make direct charitable support of those I experience in my ministry who are in need; and I occasionally make direct donations to other Catholic ministries and charitable organizations.
