Hello! I know it’s been a while since I’ve sent an email, but I’m hoping to start sending one weekly again. I hope these will still interest you. If they do, please feel free to share with a friend and invite them along too.
What a week. Word was announced at work (Adobe) this week that next week is my last week. On October 24, I’ll start a new step in my career. I’m looking forward to serving as the new Head of Operations for Exodus 90. Here’s the press release from Exodus and my blog post about the discernment journey. Thank you for all of the support and prayers. Next week I plan to write about the emotional journey of receiving notes & farewell greetings from hundreds of coworkers & friends from the last 15 years.
In your charity, please say a prayer for my younger brother Sean and his fiancé Ashley who will be joined in the Sacrament of Matrimony tomorrow. Congratulations Sean & Ashley - here’s to many happy years!
Discovery of the Week
This is an older one - I’ve been sitting on it for over a month, waiting to restart my weekly email. One of the more interesting longer-form podcasts I enjoy is the “Good Money” podcast from New Polity. Back in August, they had an episode about Tithing. In the description, they promise, “Marc Barnes and Jacob Iman discuss the meaning behind tithing, that mysterious obligation to give ten percent of our income to the Church, and why we should do it“. I found some of the history and nuance behind the idea and spirit of tithing to be very edifying and interesting.
Sunday Readings & Prayers
This Sunday’s Mass readings remind us of the power and importance of prayer - especially persistent prayer. It’s easy to remember to pray when we need or desire something. But it’s the prayer through each moment of each day that shapes our hearts.
Faith at Home Idea
Next Tuesday, October 18, the church celebrates the Feast of Saint Luke, evangelist. There are a lot of cool things you could do to bring that to life in your home next week. Here is one blog post with ideas ranging from prayers to foods and more. And here’s another with a cool idea for a St. Luke themed treat..
Bread Alive Podcast
Say a prayer that we can deliver on this promise - Joseph and I plan to restart the weekly Bread Alive Podcast next week too!
