On the Blog
I constantly need to remind myself of the proper order: Relationship, Identity, Mission.
Explore this blog post, which is a sample of a blog that will be shared weekly with those signed up at Emmaus Disciples. I’ll be launching Emmaus Disciples this month for people to start the 15-week spiritual exercise and join the community, but you can sign up now for weekly updates: https://emmausdisciples.com/.
Other Notes & Updates
This article by Deacon Dominic Cerrato about the work of the Papal Commission on Women in the Diaconate (on which he served) was a good read. Deacon Cerrato has visited with our diocesan diaconate community before, and shared some of the Commission’s early research and thinking with us (that which he could, since the work was still largely sealed under Pontifical Secret).
I have a goal of having at least 2 date nights with Suzanne each month this year, and found this article with ideas for conversation starters to reignite date nights interesting & useful. Maybe you will too.
Two ventures I’ve been working on are launching now and soon:
Deacon Life is going live NOW, with early promotions, the Community for Deacons OPEN, and the first two interview podcasts going live 1/14 and 1/28. Sign up for updates at DeaconLife.com, and please share it with any deacons you might know and love.
Emmaus Disciples is going live in January - I finally finished the 140-page manuscript this past weekend. If you’re interested in being in one of the first small groups, or eventually trying it out, or just receiving the weekly reflection, sign up at EmmausDisciples.com.
Sunday’s Mass Readings
This Sunday we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord. Here’s a link to the Scripture readings for Holy Mass.
Here’s this week’s #2MinuteHomily:
A Final Word
“That is our real ‘stature,’ our spiritual identity: we are God’s beloved children, always. So you can see that not to accept ourselves, to live glumly, to be negative, means not to recognize our deepest identity… God loves us the way we are, and no sin, fault or mistake of ours makes him change his mind…God counts on you for what you are, not for what you possess… In his eyes, you are precious, and your value is inestimable.”
Until next Wednesday,
Saint Joseph, pray for us.
Saint Michael, defend us in battle.
