On the Blog
Eighteen months ago, I couldn't run a mile. Now running has become this unexpected teacher - showing me things about leadership, transition, and who I'm becoming in this second half of life. This week's post is about being mid-race in more ways than one, and why the messy middle might be exactly where the transformation happens.
Other Notes & Updates
We had the first gathering of our "reimagined" Teen Youth Group at our parish on Sunday evening, and 17 teens showed up! I was blown away and thrilled with how it went. I'm so grateful to God and hopeful for the continued growth of this ministry to our teens.
This article about the Parish - the goods and the bads, new and old models, and whether the construct is still meaningful - was a fascinating read to me. I ponder these things often.
Bishop Sumbelelo in Angola had some wise and strong words for his newly-ordained deacons and priests.
I’ve switched from frying my morning eggs (yay for the new Food Pyramid!) in extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil, instead of butter. We’ll see if it helps with LDL cholesterol in this focus group of 1. What are your favorite ways to prepare eggs?

We Who Wrestle With God (still)
I recently read Why We Get Sick, and am trying to get the whole family to read it now.
What are YOU reading right now? I’d love to hear.
The first episode of Deacon Life goes live tomorrow! I'm excited and nervous - this has been an idea and hope for 2 years. Please pray with me that it gains traction and bears fruit.
Sunday’s Mass Readings
This Sunday we celebrate the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time. Here’s a link to the Scripture readings for Holy Mass.
Here’s this week’s #2MinuteHomily:
A Final Word
“In recognizing Jesus as the 'Lamb of God' who came to take away the sin of the world (Jn 1:29), he had the profound humility to hold up Jesus as the One sent by God, drawing back so that he might take the lead, and be heard and followed.”
Until next Wednesday,
Saint Joseph, pray for us.
Saint Michael, defend us in battle.
