Peter thought seven times was generous. Jesus said seventy-seven.
The number isn't the point. The point is: stop counting.
In Genesis 4, Lamech — a descendant of Cain — boasted of unlimited vengeance. Jesus takes Lamech's number and inverts it. Where Lamech promised to avenge seventy-seven times, my followers will forgive seventy-seven times.
It's not about math. It's about which direction you're facing.
