Interesting Stuff

On my trip to India earlier this year, I learned of the apparition of Our Lady at Velankanni, Our Lead of Good Health, “Lourdes of the East”. Many novenas to Our Lady start this coming Saturday, 9 days prior to the celebration of her Nativity on September 8. This year, I plan to pray the Novena to Our Lady of Good Health, Our Lady of Velankanni. Join me if you would like.
Men: Have you ever felt a call to service as a deacon? There’s going to be an information session for a new deacon formation class starting in our diocese. The session is on Sunday, September 7 after the 10:00 Mass at our Cathedral in Springfield. If you’d be interested in going, let me know. Liturgy, Feasts, Memorials, & more

A pair of my favorite feasts is coming up this week… tomorrow (Wednesday) is the Memorial of Saint Monica, and Thursday is the Memorial of her son, Saint Augustine, Bishop & Doctor of the Church. Read a bit about them and their connection.
Friday is the Memorial of the Passion of Saint John the Baptist, cousin and forerunner of the Lord, one of the oldest feasts in the Church.
