To go out on top? Or with your team?
Our youngest was very excited to win his baseball game last night on 8th grade night. They haven’t racked up many wins, so this one meant a lot.
He’s also been talking about “retiring” from baseball after this season (not playing on into high school). But the team has one more final game this Wednesday.
After the win tonight, I was taking him out for a treat and he said that he thought he’d like to go out on a win, and doesn’t want to go to the game on Wednesday since they’ll probably lose.
That led to a good conversation. Read more about it.

Liturgy, Feasts, Memorials, & more
Today is the Memorial of Saints Cornelius, Pope, and Cyprian, Bishop, Martyrs.
Saturday is the Memorial of Saint Andrew Kim Tae-gŏn, Priest, and Paul Chŏng Ha-sang, and Companions, Martyrs.
Next Tuesday is the Memorial of Saint Pius of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio), Priest. This is a special one for our family - and one of the icons in our home chapel, since one of our sons has been in “Padre Pio House” at Father McGivney High School.

This Sunday’s Mass Readings
This Sunday we’ll celebrate the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Here’s a link to the Scripture readings for Holy Mass, and here’s a 2 Minute Homily & a challenge for this week #2MinuteHomily:
Last Sunday’s Homily
I’ve been overwhelmed by the reaction to last Sunday’s homily (and the sheer tally of views it’s received online.) It took a lot of prayer, considering how to tie the events of last week with the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, but the Holy Spirit took control, and for that, as always, I’m grateful.

Saint Joseph, pray for us. Saint Michael, defend us in battle.
