IN MY EARS
Once every year or so, I find it helpful to share a list of some of the podcasts, YouTube channels, and other media sources that I enjoy or find useful. This year, I’m also going to include a couple of “family favorites.”
Other Notes & Updates
It’s exciting to read about Bishop Cozzens’ assessment and plan for how the 2029 National Eucharistic Congress could be bigger & better than last year’s.
I love the Hillbilly Thomists, a band of Dominican friars of the Province of St. Joseph, and they just released a Christmas album!
As long as we don’t have snow-covered roads, I’ll be running the Holiday Hilltop 5K in Shiloh this Saturday morning. It benefits a Fr. McGivney High School student with her health needs. Will any of you be there too?
My friend Jacob Zepp wrote another great article for Adoremus, this one on the background and history of the Rorate Mass. For those nearby, Father Jeff Holtman will offer a Rorate Mass at 6 p.m. this Thursday, December 11, at Ss. Peter & Paul in Alton.
Sunday’s Mass Readings
This Sunday we celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent.
As Gaudete Sunday, it’s also the (22nd!) anniversary of when I proposed marriage to Suzanne! Here’s a link to the Scripture readings for Holy Mass.
Here’s this week’s #2MinuteHomily:
A Final Word
“Today is the Third Sunday of Advent, which is called Gaudete Sunday; that is, the Sunday of joy. In the Liturgy the invitation rings out several times to rejoice, why? Because the Lord is near. Christmas is near. The Christian message is called the ‘Gospel’; i.e. ‘good news’, an announcement of joy for all people; the Church is not a haven for sad people, the Church is a joyful home! And those who are sad find joy in her, they find in her true joy!”
Until next Wednesday,
Saint Joseph, pray for us.
Saint Michael, defend us in battle.
